In our uber PC culture, teachers are frequently in the spotlight. They are expected to make a child perfect, and little or no responsibility is placed on the parents or the child themselves. Read this short cautionary tale, and take it to heart, if you want to become or remain a teacher.

Rule Number One:

It is best if you do not share too much of your personal experience with your students, even if it is pertinent to the work being studied. Every district superintendent wants every teacher to be just alike and to fit the mold that they learned in administrator’s school, the flavor of the day, and, in reality, it does not work that way.

You can vaguely categorize teachers, either by how popular they are or how easy or hard their classes are, but all should be striving to build an atmosphere of trust, a community of inquiring minds, to approach literature and nonfiction information that gives us the ability to look at life from different perspectives. Beware sharing personal stories, because you may not know how the students will perceive the information.
